Portshowlio 2019 Website
Each year the graduating students of the Seattle Central Creative Academy host a portfolio show, featuring portfolios and projects created by graduates. It is a chance to celebrate and showcase their work with the Seattle creative community, friends and family. Students design, install and promote each year’s show.

Project Problem
Rather than creating a title for this year’s show, the class of 2019 chose to highlight the intersection of collaboration/synthesis, adaptability/resilience, and intention/drive with the visual theme of “current.” My team was tasked with creating a custom WordPress site to promote the event and showcase student work based on branding created by the team lead by Dillon Sturtevant and Kelly Shea, with guidance from our steering committee Lauren Stevens, Jennifer Campbell, and Tessa Viamonte.
Project Goal
Create a memorable and unique website that serves as a portal for users to view the work of students graduating from the visual media and graphic design programs and launches one week before the show opens.
The Splash Page
Our first task as a team was to launch a splash page to inform users and generate excitement for the upcoming show. Sean and I were tasked with designing and coding the page. With the help of the branding team, we were able to get the page up quickly and were able to use a great animation created by Lexi Korobkin as the central design element of the page.
The Design
With an awesome set of design mockups created by Eeva Horst, Anna Dawson and Abi Babu, the development team, lead by Alex Heitzenrader and supported by Sean O’leary and I were able to get the front-end together quickly. As a member of the development team, I was in charge of coding the website footer, event, and 404 pages and troubleshooting the Javascript needed to create the sites visual effects. I was very lucky to have worked on a team that worked so collaboratively to deliver solid work consistently on a tight schedule.
The Solution
Thanks to the incredible teamwork of the web team, as well as the entire class of 2019, The Portshowlio website launched June 7, one week before the main event with each students work uploaded to the site.
