The Tucker House Inn
Perched on the hill overlooking the town of Friday Harbor and Sunken Park, the historic Tucker House Inn, built in 1898 stands as a testament to the history of the area and its patrons. Guests are offered an exemplary experience: privacy, beautifully appointed guest rooms, suites, and cottages, personalized services and sumptuous breakfasts with local ingredients. With one-of-a-kind accommodations, guests of The Tucker House come as strangers, leave as friends and return as part of the extended family.

Project Problem
First impressions count. By landing on a website that looks great and is easy to use, you’re more likely to explore what that company has to offer. While it’s important to keep websites feeling modern, hotel websites should help potential guests solve problems and make it easy for visitors to complete the travel planning process while providing them with a memorable experience.
Project Goals
Memorable
Provide users with a memorable storytelling experience by highlighting the unique aspects of the users stay
Minimal Design
Keep the design minimal, but visually stimulating so that the focus can be on storytelling
Accessible
Offer an easy to use interface that keeps accommodation and reservation services easily accessible
Current Design
The Solution
Create a single section, scrolling homepage that offers users a memorable experience while remaining functional and highlighted unique aspects of a stay at The Tucker House Inn. Each section of the homepage gives users a brief introduction to an offering that makes their stay unique. Brief copy and visually stimulating imagery keep the user engaged, but leaves them wondering what else they can expect.
Design Direction
Tucker House Inn is advertised as having a Victorian Era aesthetic with upgraded modern comforts. In order to capture the heart behind the business and broaden their clientele, we chose to create a soft and literal illustrative style that would highlight the key aspects of the island and its history. Using expressive illustrations and a minimalist nautical themed color palette, Lindsey Jensen was able to create a visual style that celebrates the owner’s passion to create an authentic island experience for its patrons, while opening their doors to the next generation. With such a strong visual aesthetic, I was able to utilize these assets to create a unique storytelling homepage experience for The Tucker House Inn.
